A crew is a local group with a shared board. Boards split by weight class, bodyweight and age group — like powerlifting — so a 60 kg walker is not quietly competing against a 100 kg one.

How crews work
What a crew is for
A crew is a small group with a shared monthly board — usually the people you actually walk with, or would like to. It is the difference between logging into a spreadsheet and having somebody notice you skipped a week.
Crews do not replace whatever you already use to organise walks. If you run a group on a messaging app or a forum, keep it. The crew is the record layer on top: who carried what, how far, this month.
Joining shares your totals
This is worth saying plainly. Your profile starts private, and stays private to the wider site. But joining a crew shares your monthly totals with that crew's members even if your profile is private — that is the point of a shared board, and it would be dishonest to bury it in a settings page.
Leaving a crew stops that sharing. Your rucks themselves are never visible to anyone else.
Starting one
A crew needs a name, a city and one walker. You become the founder and get an invite link to share; anyone with that link can join, and you can revoke it.
Members with a quiet month stay on the board at zero rather than disappearing from it. A board that silently drops people reads as though they left.
Crews and the wider boards
Being in a crew does not remove you from the global leaderboards, and it does not change your weight class. The two are independent: the crew board is who you walk with, the leaderboards are the whole platform.
A crew's total is simply the sum of its members' hauls for the month, so a small consistent crew can out-haul a big sporadic one.
Common questions
How many people can be in a crew?
There is no cap. In practice crews work best somewhere between three and about thirty — small enough that the board is a group of people rather than a phone book.
Can I be in more than one crew?
Yes. A local walking group and a workplace crew, for example. Your hauls count toward every crew you are in.
Who can see the crew board?
Its members. Crew pages themselves are publicly listed so people can find groups near them, but the monthly board is for people who have joined.
What happens if the founder leaves?
Founders cannot currently leave a crew, precisely so a crew never ends up with nobody able to administer it. If you need a crew transferred or closed, email us.
