Running an event we have missed? The calendar is meant to be the complete list, not a curated one — local group walks belong here as much as the big international marches. Send us the details.
About rucking events
Why a training block needs a date
Rucking rewards consistency, and consistency is much easier when something is coming. An event on the calendar turns a vague intention to walk more into eight weeks of specific preparation.
The calendar covers organised ruck marches worldwide, from overnight 50 km events to the largest walking event on earth.
The big ones
The Nijmegen Vierdaagse in the Netherlands is four consecutive days of 30 to 50 km, with roughly 45,000 walkers, and a military category that marches under load. Registration opens in January and fills.
The Bataan Memorial Death March in New Mexico is a 42 km desert march with a heavy division carrying 16 kg. GORUCK runs Star Course and Challenge events across Europe and the United States year-round.
Listings are free
If you organise a ruck march, a club walk or a charity march, send it to us and it goes on the calendar. There is no fee, no featured placement to buy, and no plan to introduce either — the calendar is a service to the sport, not a revenue line.
Local group walks belong here as much as the big international marches. Most people's first organised ruck is somebody's Saturday morning club walk.
Training for one
The usual mistake is adding weight and distance in the same week. Pick one. If an event is eight weeks out and you are comfortable at 10 km under 12 kg, adding either two kilometres or two kilograms per week — never both — gets you there without the knee trouble.
Common questions
How do I add an event?
Email the name, date, location, distance and any weight requirement. Listings are free and usually appear within a couple of days.
Do event results appear on my profile?
Only if you log the ruck like any other. We do not import results from organisers, so what appears is what you record.
What weight do these events require?
It varies. GORUCK events specify a weight by class, the Bataan heavy division requires 16 kg, and many club walks have no requirement at all. The listing says where we know.
How far ahead should I start training?
For a first 20 km event under load, eight to twelve weeks of walking twice a week is realistic. For a multi-day march like the Vierdaagse, plan on months and practise back-to-back days.
